Washington Public Records Act

The Washington Public Records Act is a law that requires public access to all records and materials from state and local agencies.The act establishes a strong state policy for disclosure of public records. However, there are some exemptions and limitations.  Healthcare / Medical Records are excluded from the public records act and are protected by the HIPAA Privacy Rule which establishes national standards to protect individuals' medical records and other personal helth information.
